Dinner Dress Tips From OU Mackson

It is important to us at OU Entertainments that Dinner outing should be taken seriously as an important part of everyone’s fun life therefore, below are tips from OU Mackson on how to dress for dinner and what you should wear to dinner.

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” a popular saying goes. Once in a while, if not every weekend, it is very important one steps out looking one’s best to dinner, especially with loved ones. This practice which has however become a custom among old and young people as a medium of relaxation, have a great meal with drinks, dance and have fun, however, we dare not talk about dinner parties/outings without mentioning the perfect attire that should go with it.

Dinner dresses are often long and having sleeves or a jacket, more elaborate than one designed for daytime wear but less formal than an evening gown, however we have different types of dinner dresses.

Cocktail Dress. A cocktail dress is shorter in length, so you can easily dance the night away.

Ball Gown. A ball gown is a floor-length dress to be worn to formal outings, it is usually worn with a tie depending on the occasion. It is the most formal (and fancy!) type of dress, and traditionally has a full skirt and fitted bodice.

Midi Dress. A midi dress hits at your mid-calf, hence the term midi.

10 rules on evening wear.

1.Single Sole pumps are the chicest option to go with the above dresses for evenings.

2. Platforms are to be avoided, particularly if your skirt falls above your knee.

3. When it comes to colour, black, navy and the right red are your forever staples. Jewel tones are a lovely option if you want something a little less classic.

4. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain: Kate Moss has such an accomplished eveningwear style and that’s because she isn’t afraid to break a few rules. Moss has an uncanny ability to bring an element of surprise to the night: when everyone else is wearing shorts, she goes super long; when all the female guests wear gowns, she opts for a tux. There is a delicate nuance between appropriate dressing and bland conformity, and she has it nailed.

5. The shorter the dress, the higher the neckline.

6. Avoid courts if your dress is very long. Open toed, strappy styles work much better if the foot is only sporadically on display.

7. One of this season’s biggest evening wear trends is the slip dress, which has been reinvented and is now a more sophisticated version of its Nineties paradigm. Be inspired by the styling at OU Mackson, Louis Vuitton and Lanvin and team it with an oversized cashmere coat. Keep the entire outfit tonal and your accessories simple.

8. The blurring of day and eveningwear rules can be supremely chic. Experiment with knitwear for evening: the right knit can be the perfect partner for a statement skirt whether it’s a midi, tulip, or flute silhouette, all important shapes for this season.

9. A cap-sleeve is the perfect solution if you feel uncomfortable about the tricky area between your breasts and arms.

10. This season is all about the witty, playful statement clutch, from Chanel’s plexi-glass box styles to the evening bags with built in rings at Tom Ford and Alexander McQueen.

We at OU Entertainments is all about what makes you stand out as an entertainer or a fashion lover.

We hope this piece from OU Mackson was helpful and until next post, Enjoy your weekend.
