Fashion plays a major role in our society and affects the social aspects of society. Fashion in general is a way to display our personalities attitude and culture.
How ever the first fashion designer to start a fashion trend; Charles Frederick left fashion trends in the hands of womeb far back in 1858. and they have been in the forefront of fashion till date.

The purpose of fashion which is to decorate ourselves to craft an identity has been greatly improved through trends, thanks to women which spare-head the drive of making fashion such a diversity.

Women are expected to keep up with trends always. Dressing badly in a world that champions personal style is what no woman wants to be caught up with as such they have made a lot of sacrifices to stay in trends.

During the trend of the wasp waist, girls tightened their waists with corsets that led to numerous health problems like displacement of internal organs, fractures and even broken ribs. Some ladies when as far as having procedures to remove their lower rips to fit into the trend.

The belladonna a toxic herb, that was used to make poisons in the Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece. However, girls used it as eye drops to join the trend of shiny eyes which was a trend at the XX century. That also caused blindness and even deaths.

The lead powder, which was popular throughout the XVI–XVIII centuries that turned the skin white to get their desired shade. resulted in premature aging, caused cancer and even paralysis.

Fashion as a form of expression has long been influenced by women in the society. They have been the ones setting the pace and standards, including the gender controlled role in society of certain expectations for men and women respectively has been ultered hijacked by women. For instance, it was not common among women to wear pants which was ment for men but today, it is just as common to see a woman wearing pants as a man. In fact, today women have adopted the traditional menswear of the pantsuit.

Every era had its fashion trends set by women and men had to conform to what’s left for them. Making women the lead role players in the fashion.
